Julie Del Giorno
Julie Del Giorno currently serves as a Compliance Manager in the Office of Ethics and Compliance at Penn State. In this role, she is responsible for providing a broad range of investigative and consulting services to the Ethics and Compliance Office, as well as to the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses and Executive Chancellor.
Previous to her appointment at Penn State, she served as the Chief of Staff at Moravian College where she was responsible for the coordination of the collective operations of a senior staff of vice presidents in functional areas that include academic affairs, institutional advancement, administration, enrollment, and student affairs. Additionally, she oversaw the directors, activities, and initiatives of the College’s Department of Athletics and Recreation and Office of Constituent (External and Internal) Relations.
Prior to her service at Moravian College, she served as the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. In her position Ms. Del Giorno was responsible for the administration, leadership, supervision, budgeting, guidance, and direction of the Student Affairs Division of the university. The Student Affairs Division offices included: Intercollegiate Athletics, Counseling and Psychological Services, Career Services, Greek Affairs, Judicial and Commuter Student Affairs, Orientation and New Student Programs, Residence Life and Housing, Student Recreation Center, Stony Acres Outdoor Recreational Facility, Student Activities, United Campus Ministry, University Center, University Health Services, and the University Bookstore.
While at East Stroudsburg University, Ms. Del Giorno also served as the assistant to the president for 4 years. As assistant to ESU President Robert J. Dillman, Del Giorno served as his principal liaison to the University Council of Trustees, legislators, community groups, and governmental agencies. As a member of the president’s senior staff, her responsibilities included serving as the president’s principal advisor, assisting him in day to day activities, coordinating and arranging presidential meetings and events, and managing staff and correspondence.
She was previously ESU’s academic coordinator for intercollegiate athletics, responsible for counseling, academic monitoring, and assistance to over 400 student-athletes in 19 intercollegiate sport programs. In that position, she was a founding member of the ESU Student-Athlete Center for Excellence.
In the late 1990’s she worked at the University of Central Arkansas, as assistant women’s soccer coach and helped establish the first women's intercollegiate soccer program at UCA.
From 1993-96, she held various positions in the intercollegiate athletic department at the United States Military Academy at West Point, serving as assistant athletic director for operations and support, senior woman administrator, and assistant women’s basketball coach.
Del Giorno earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1986 from the United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., where she was selected as a Division II All-American in Women's Basketball, and was honored as the Army Athletic Association Women Athlete of the Year in 1986. In 2013, she was elected to the Army Sports Hall of Fame. In 2014, her jersey number was retired by the Women's Basketball program at West Point. She earned her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Arkansas.
Ms. Del Giorno is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and combat operations in Somalia, She served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army from 1986-1995 and is a Bronze Star medal recipient. Throughout her tenure in the Army she held various leadership positions to include, transportation company commander, division movement control officer, battalion adjutant/administrative officer, and platoon leader.
