Matt Stolberg currently serves as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance at Penn State. In this role, he manages an office of seven compliance professionals charged with ensuring that the University’s 31 varsity athletics programs comply with NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules. Matt has a direct reporting line to Penn State’s Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, Regis Becker, while also maintaining a dotted line to Athletics leadership. His employment at Penn State began in January 2010.
Prior to joining the Penn State staff, Matt served as an Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at the University of Michigan from December 2001 to January 2010. He has also held compliance and administrative positions at Michigan State University, Northwestern University and St. Bonaventure University. Before his involvement in intercollegiate athletics, Matt served as an Assistant Golf Professional at Kittanning Country Club in Kittanning, PA for four years.
Matt graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and later added a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Management from Georgia Southern University. He is a member of the National Association of Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and maintains an active NAAC educational certification.
