Bruce Ellis became Penn State’s Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in September 2008. In this role, he is responsible for the staffing, administration, education, execution and compliance of all NCAA, Big Ten and Penn State bylaws for Penn State’s 31 teams in the areas of Initial Eligibility, Continuing Eligibility, Admissions, Housing, Financial Aid, International Student Services and the University Registrar.
Prior to joining the Nittany Lions and Ethics and Compliance, Ellis was Senior Director Undergraduate Programs in the Smeal College of Business at Penn State for 14 years. He was responsible for academic services and student services for the then 6th largest and Top 20 ranked undergraduate program. Early in his career he also worked for 6 years as a Youth Employment Counselor with the Federal Comprehensive Employment and Training Program serving at risk and out of school youth and was the Program Supervisor at the Centre County Juvenile Detention Center. He continues his service to youth and families as a member of the Board of Directors for the Youth Service Bureau of Centre County.
Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Development with a concentration in Community and Youth Development and a Master’s degree in the area of College Student Affairs, both from Penn State University.
